Brandon Lang Promotes Online GamblingUp until 10 years ago, Brandon Long was a professional sports gambler. He walked away from his high-stakes career and moved to Los Angeles with only one goal: make a movie out of his life story. Lang is 42 years-old and he was an excellent handicapper (someone who sets the betting odds based on calculations of the outcome of a contest or tournament) for a top East Coast sports-betting company from 1989 to 1996. He was extremely good in picking football winners and led a glamorous and rich life. There was, however, a down side to his exciting career. Once, Lang was even threatened at gunpoint by an angry customer, because he wasn't able to predict the game correct. To reach his goal of bringing out his life story on the big screen, Lang started to work as a gold caddy at a popular Los Angeles country club, and became friends with the movie screenwriter Dan Gilroy. This friendship was very successful for Lang, since this year the thriller 'Two for the Money' came out this week on DVD. A movie loosely based on Brandon Lang's story, where Lang is played by Matthew McConaughey and Al Pacino and Rene Russo brighten up the cast. The movie grossed about $23 million.  One of the investors of the movie is one of the largest online gambling sites, focused on sports betting and this same investor asked Lang to become a part of their online gambling site. Now, Lang is promoting gambling on this online gambling site in magazines, radio shows and television broadcasts. Lang also opened his own online gambling site, where he picks the favorites. According to Lang, this site is his chance to show the world how good he really is. Lang states that he not just lucky; he actually has a strategy about picking the winners. His number one rule is not to get emotionally involved. Brandon says that most gamblers let their anger get the best of them. If a team they bet on loses, they won't bet on them again. Unfortunately, this is a theory that hardly ever pays off. With his new online gambling career, Brandon Lang hopes to give his career a boast and at the same time, help other gamblers win lots of money. In the press, Lang claims that his move towards online gambling is completely different from his past. When he was a handicapper, he had to call people and force them to place bets, which, in some cases didn't turn out so great. Many people in the business were edgy, since they could loose (and lost) lots of money. According to Lang, the online gambling industry is completely different, it's a clean business and players bet because they want to, without any pressure. |
